Nestled in a small valley, Saur is a less popular village than its counterpart Sankri. It is 25 km away from the sub-district headquarters Mori. A beautiful hamlet surrounded by tall deodar, pine, and oak trees, Saur gives you magnificent view of all the peaks of the Swargarohini massif. Its presence in the viscinity of Govind Pashu Vihar makes it a hub of Flora and fauna. The people are agriculture centric and also pratcice horticulture. You can see vast Apple orchards. The quaint village despite being in close proximity to a bustling village of Sankri is untouched by the crowd and most of the population is local, including some families from Sankri who to this village as Sankri started became flooded with trekkers.

DAY 1:- DEHRADUN TO SAUR

We will meet at a pre- decided location in Dehradun and will embark upon our journey, together. We will be driving on beautiful hilly roads with several bends that takes you across one of the most beautiful hillstations of Shivaliks, Mussourie. We will have our breakfast after kempty fall. Around 20 km from here we will cross a bridge ( Yamuna Pul) after which we will be driving all the way to Naugaon where Yamuna River flows to our left. Lunch will be en route. We will reach Sankri by 3 pm. Leaving market behind, we will make our way to Forest check post. A 100 m trail leads you down to Saur and our guest house is at a distance of 200 to 300 metres from there. After checking in the homestay you are free to venture out in the market or in the village itself. We can take a small walk to go and witness the beautiful sunset over Swargarohini peak. Local pahaadi cuisine will be served at the homestay after which we can call it a day and you may also opt to star watch.

DAY 2:- A DAY IN SAUR

We start our day with a local temple visit and a Yoga session in a quiet beautiful setting where you can see a variety of Flora and birds. The village's quaint nature and its limited accessability makes it a good place to detox yourself from hustle and bustle of city. After that we will come to the homestay for a hearty pahaadi breakfast that includes Mandua roti (a bread made of local millets that is gluten free) and local leafy vegetables and sum it up with a hot cup of tea.

Now we venture out for village tour where you can get the taste of traditional farming by helping locals in de-weeding/ploughing or harvesting (depending on the time of season you're there for). We can also witness the architecture, places of historical importance for village etc. You can try your hands on weaving under the guidance of local craftsmen. Lunch will be served hot, at the home stay.

In the evening, you can venture out, roam around in the village and get to know about the local culture by talking to the people and listening to the stories by the old people have to tell. We will return to the home stay where you can help your host prepare a meal or simply spend some leisure time around.
